Sustainability
Sustainable Human Behaviour, in harmony with the limits and boundaries of the Earth’s biosphere, is the only way to ensure the Earth for our descendants. At this current juncture, the Earth’s atmosphere has twice the carbon dioxide levels ever recorded. We know this because of the ice cores containing record of the last 400,000 years taken by scientists from the Arctic and Antarctic. We also know from these ice cores that temperature rise has followed atmospheric carbon levels and that rises in temperature cause sea levels to rise.
The carbon levels in our atmosphere have been caused by using fossil fuels because they are made from old plant matter which still contains the carbon it collected over milliea.
What is easy to forget at everyone alive on the plant today is habituated to an ecologically traumatised landscape where our actions as a species and the systems with have accepted have caused massive biodiversity loss and habitat destruction. Through our predatory economic and consumer appetites we have lost our connection to the fact that the decisions we make today will effect our descendants and we need to reconnect with this reality immediately.
Energy
Sustainable energy means utilising renewable resources responsibly to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
Transport
Sustainable transport involves utilising eco-friendly modes like public transit, cycling, and electric vehicles to reduce emissions and minimise environmental impact while commuting.
Materials
Sustainable materials are those sourced and manufactured to minimise environmental impact, promote social responsibility, and support long-term ecological balance.
Food & Beverage
Sustainable food and beverages are produced using methods that prioritise environmental stewardship, ethical sourcing, biodiversity conservation, and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.
Water
Sustainable water usage involves conserving, managing, and responsibly allocating water resources to meet current needs without depleting or polluting them for future generations.
Nature
Sustainable nature management involves conserving ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, promoting regenerative practices, and ensuring equitable access to resources while fostering resilience and adaptability.
Governance & Communications
Sustainable governance and communications entail transparent decision-making, inclusive stakeholder engagement, ethical practices, and effective communication to promote accountability, trust, and responsible resource management.
